When I was a puppy my mom used to be so scared for me to walk without a leash. I was known to all of my aunties as a "darter". I just like to prance around sometimes a little to far away for my mom's liking. But a pug has to follow the smell or shinny thing that catches her attention doesn't she?
Lately though I have been earning some trust to not be a darter. My people finally figured out I wasn't trying to run away, I was just trying to run around. And I never wanted to leave my people, most the time that I did run is because I was mad at my mom for leaving me or I was trying to follow her when she left. I don't like being away from my mom at all. Hang on my mom is doing something with food in the kitchen so I have to see if she drops anything on the floor for me to gobble up.
Back and no food dropped. Bummer. But back to this leash and walking thing. Now my mom trusts me to walk without a leash when we walk around our apartment complex. I am getting much better at listening, but I still like to wander to explore, never to run away. But I do have to go up to everyone I see and welcome them to the neighborhood, even if I did just see them 5 minutes ago. I can't help that I am a friendly girl can I?
But I am glad that I am finally getting to walk without a leash. I am getting some freedom, which every pug needs, but I never wander where I can't see/hear my mom or dad. I just like to prance for everyone to see. Do any pugs out there get to walk without a leash?
